The MG5 wedges incorporate Spin Tread Technology alongside a RAW face finish, enabling better spin and control even on wet surfaces. Similar to how tyre treads maintain traction on the road, Spin Tread Technology works to divert water away from the clubface, enhancing friction with the ball at the moment of impact.
SAW-MILLED GROOVES FOR OPTIMUM SPIN
Pioneering the MG series, the MG5 wedges utilise aggressive saw-milled grooves. This innovative saw-milling process allows the designers at TaylorMade to come precariously close to the legal limits of groove geometry. With ultra-tight tolerances, steeper walls, and sharper radii, these grooves significantly improve spin performance compared to previous MG iterations.
IMPROVED SPIN RETENTION IN WET WEATHER
Following in the tradition of earlier MG models, the MG5 wedges are equipped with a RAW face finish and cutting-edge continuous Spin Tread Technology. This combination helps golfers retain impressive spin and control in wet conditions. The continuous Spin Treads function like all-weather tyres, redirecting water from the face and increasing impact friction. Consequently, MG5 retains 13% more spin than the MG4 model, even in wet conditions. Moreover, these technologies ensure a more consistent launch angle regardless of the weather.
DIVERSE GRIND OPTIONS FOR EVERY GOLFER
The MG5 wedges feature six different Tour-inspired grinds designed by TaylorMade's master wedge craftsman, Greg Cesario, providing golfers with versatile options tailored to their playing style. Three of these grinds conform to TaylorMade's standard bounce profile, which many golfers prefer: the SB, SC, and SX grinds.

• SB GRIND: Features a full sole design with consistent trailing edge relief, ensuring smooth turf interaction suitable for a variety of swing types. Its gentle four-way camber increases versatility, especially for players looking to manipulate the face, while the wider sole enhances forgiveness.
• SC GRIND: Known as TaylorMade’s signature mid-bounce grind, this option boasts a medium-low bounce design with added camber, providing relief at the heel, toe, and trailing edge. This results in ultimate greenside versatility while maintaining stability for full shots in all turf conditions.
• SX GRIND: A newcomer to the MG range, this option sports the widest sole and optimised curvature for reliable bunker performance. The reverse-C trailing edge allows consistent bounce as golfers adjust the face, making it ideal for those who seek a balance of stability and versatility.

In addition to the three standard bounce options, the MG5 line features three more specialised grinds for unique performance needs.

• HB GRIND: Designed for golfers with steeper swings or those playing in softer conditions. Its high-bounce design provides stability and forgiveness, while specialised heel relief and a tapered trailing edge offer versatility and quick turf exit without digging.
• LB GRIND: This variation has minimal bounce, keeping the leading edge close to the ground. The modified C-grind emphasises this orientation, particularly beneficial when the face is opened. The pronounced beveled leading edge and added camber mitigate the risk of digging, making it ideal for golfers with shallow swings or those playing on firm turf.
